I Pray for Thee...

Waketh now! O frail human; yearning is a delusion, darkness real! Thy cherished desire be lost in dark; By Heaven, no dream, thus far hast come true. Wherefore thou art distraught with grief; such is the disguise of the masqued world. The audience boweth only if charmed; for the theatre be empty if the joker is grim. I fear thou hast be standing by thyself; the shadow will sever all ties in gloom. Pray Pardon! Rip thy heart not in kindness; for none will tend thine when beset with sorrow. God knoweth why! Thou shalt not find an ally; waiteth not, rise on thee pes and mend thy soul. Whilst, I pray for thee... Waketh now! O frail fe...

Song of Concurrence

A man strives to win; he wins all but love, As when he loses, he loses all but love! For in love there is no win and no loss, And if it is, there is no love! A mount reinforces the existence of a true pine, and is scoured when the conifer deserts it; For in togetherness there is no betrayal, And if it is, there is no joy! A siliceous sand shore watches the tides in awe, and is washed away when there is  tempest in the sea; For in affection there is no might, And if it is, there is no solicitude! A foliage tilts in harmony with soft breeze, and splits away when the winds blow rough; For in espousal there is no brutality, And if it is, there is no hold! A terrain anticipates meadowy makeover, and is barren when left unwatered; For in growth there is no forlornness, And if it is, there is no emergence! A nestling learns to fledge on trunks and branches, and its world falls apart when the tree is axed; For in acquisition there is ...

An Ode To Father

I was a shrewd child. A maverick by birth. Being youngest among the siblings, I had a devil-may-care attitude. Reckless and fierce I would often put my parents in an embarrassing situation as I had mastered the art of dropping a clanger. But I had a thing for adventurism too. So much so that if a Mark Twain lived nearby Tom Sawyer would have had a strong female competitor. Besides this Sawyerishness, I had a hint of Robin Hood also. I would rob from the kitchen gardens of the rich and give it to....Neah! I would eat it all! That is why I said ‘a hint’ of Robin Hood.  As far as my way at my School is concerned, I am sure my kindergarten teachers remember me as an epitome of mischief, a child who was acerbically quick-witted and uncontrollably canny. I was brazen-faced and my remarks would leave them stupefied. Poor mother would always have to listen to my seditious stories. I call them escapades though. The standard childlike purity would bore me to tears and I always did ...

Enchantment!

As I step on the land of passion and take a bewitching flight; In the world of desolation,I love! As the chirrup reverberates in consonance with the whisper of my heart; In the world of deafness,I sing! As the rain drenches my shape and I embrace it to moisten my soul; In the world of aridity,I dance! As I look the Sun in its eye and rip it off its pride; In the world of ebony,I exhilarate! As the roses wink, blow their scent and colour me red; In the world of triviality,I laugh! As the greens sway and the caress of breeze plays over my face; In the world of stagnance,I dream! As I celebrate the quintessence of life, the reverie of having you by my side; In the world of nothingness,I rise!

Anecdote

Honesty still is the best policy for some! It was a quiet day at school today as the secondary section was on a trip to Sonamarg. I don’t know how much fun they had around the Glaciers but being at peace at School without that maddening noise certainly felt heaven. We, the Higher Secondary staff spent major part of the day basking in the Sun and intermittently dozing under the shadow of the magnificent Chinar tree that stands splendid and grand in the middle of the ground. A fine day, well spent and with this as the icing on the cake and certainly a life-long inspiration.  An old man, charmingly donning his peppered look alongwith a white skull-cap came to see the Principal of our school today. Principal Sir introduced him as Mr. Abdul Hameed Teli, a retired Chief Educational Officer from Sopore. Mr. Teli and Our boss, Mr. Mohd. Yousuf Malla have worked as  colleagues for quite some time and during one such period in 1989, when they wer...

Medical Musings

Dr. Khuroo's Medical Clinic is a quite place in the narrow bylanes of Qamarwari, Srinagar with no familiar landmark around it.The clinic is not very roomy but at this cramped place, people from all the corners of the Valley start queueing up from early hours of the day. Dr. Khuroo is a world renowned Gastroenterologist and has done enormous research work in the field of Medicine. The man does not need any introduction though as he has already earned himself a name of being an extremely disciplined expert of abdomonal disorders. The best in his field he is a ray of hope to millions of local and foreign patients suffering from various gastroenteronomic ailments but as the way of this world is, he too has been a target of unnecessary wrath in his native land. Inspite of cynicism he continues to do the good work and earn the blessings in return.Nonetheless,I often visit the clinic accompanying my father for his routine check ups. Today I was there for the same but surprisingly, this t...

My Oasis,My Room!

As I open the door after a tumultous day , the pale-yellow walls brighten up and spread their arms to embrace me.The passionate red and gold drapes swirl and sway and share my laughter and with the same undeterring loyalty they absorb my tears whenever my eyes get moist. These tiny things lying here and there dance with me when I tap my feet and they go in deep lull as I start bonding with Chemistry! Punology :P As I whisper my deepest secrets to these fluffy pillows,my bed holds me tight and loves me like a princess. Such relief that I unwind and wake up even more confident ready to face the storm and take the stride like a golden bird. Yes after a thorny day I blossom like a rose and life is pink again. This, my oak cupboard has my treasure,my friends in solitude,my books :) And on its left lies the chamber of my pastels that throws itself open and adorns me every morning as I step out to emerge as a strong and powerful woman. Oh! The mirror in the dressing corner. My magic wand...

Let The Dream Be Safe

“We lost more than a valuable life; we lost a Dream.” The President of India, Republic Day speech. This while another valuable life, another dream was being ripped to shreds in Faridabad. The moral compass definitely has lost direction. When a heinous crime like Rape takes place, it is important for the Govt., the party in power to stand up and feel the pulse of the public. Action should be prompt and punishment bone-chilling. Castration or no castration, the punishment should bring shivers down the spine of every Lecher so that the crime is not repeated. People vote and choose their representatives for a better future. It’s the responsibility of these representatives to work towards the betterment of our lives of which safety, especially that of women, is of utmost importance. Safeguarding women is not only the responsibility of our men in general and leaders in particular but also an important element of the moral code of a civilised society. We, unfortunately are facing the ...
