Bitter But True

A woman is mostly in trouble because of another woman. I as a woman may not like the sound of this statement but that doesn't make it an incorrect one. It is true. Most of the taboos that surround us in our society are our own creation and men take full advantage of that. We may hate the patriarchal nature of our world but we can't deny that we helped in building it this way. Boys grow up among the women of their houses who are unfortunately always busy in weaving these taboos in front of them and once a boy turns into a man, he finds it natural to harass a woman and also expects that she will keep quiet. Not all get lucky with the latter part though. Some women fortunately have been brought up by fathers who, while shaping their daughters, made sure none of these taboos touch their skin. However, some do get victimised. The solution is the realisation that change comes from within. Nothing will change for women if women themselves are not ready for the change, if they themselves don't take that important first step. Taboos need to be flushed down the drain and women will have to push the button themselves.
So, what's it that's actually stopping women?
My observation, women tend to be superficially modern. Again, not pleasing to ear but true. We dress up well but we lack the depth of modernity. Fashion is good but mind needs some food too. A blonde highlight on hair is never enough, women need to have the courage to drag an offender by his collar. It's beautiful to jazz up every morning in bright colours but women also need to make sure, that men trying to rob them off these colours don't get away with it. Please, don't keep quiet. Women are not born to be victimised and there is a good number of women who can shatter this cage of taboos themselves and also help those women who can't do it on their own. Single or married, taboos don't decide our lifestyle. This cage has held us captive for long, enough now.  Let's not just look liberated, let's march on towards real liberation. Can we? Yes, we can and we must.

P.S :-Having witnessed something recently, a little thingy for married women ; Darling, if your husband is a devta, go on with your pooja but if he's a kutta, he'll get stoned. Kindly, step aside.
